![]() Unwrapping certain islands with LSCM, and then some with ABF, was easy and fast. While the tools there are often considered efficient by most standards, I found the ability to mark seams in 3Dcoat, using Edge Loops, somewhat less time consuming than it is in Max. ![]() Typically, I would unwrap in 3dsmax with the UVunwrap modifier. What about 3d-coat do you feel saved you the most time in creating these textures? Quote - Lux, I downloaded the max version of your freebie that those renders are from, and the texturing is just awe-inspiring. System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB Tools : 3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender I usually center pivot, and reset Xforms on the model at this point also, just to be safe. Then you can apply the smoothing you want on the model. The only issue I have with this workflow is once the model is imported back to Max, for some reason, the smoothing can't be modified on the imported mesh until you apply an Edit Poly modifier, and collapse the stack again. Then I export out the textured model, with maps, and import back into Max, again with Zbrush preset as and Editable Poly. It's just like Photoshop, and actually has a direct connection to Photoshop, if you wanted to edit the texture file there in REAL TIME. The thing I like most is the ability to paint on the models seamlessly, with no texture warping, in LAYERS. So I'll autounwrap, then either start painting on the model, or use the UV tools to get the unwrapping I personally want. I found if you don't use the Auto-unwrap, then 3D-Coat can hang and crash your system, because of overlapping UV's and other things, and it warns you of this beforehand. My personal workflow for these two apps so far is to just export my models from Max as OBJ, using the ZBrush preset in the OBJexport dialogue, import into 3D-Coat, and auto-unwrap the object. It seems to play really well with 3dsmax too. ![]() Seems like some of us here have discovered the amazing potential of 3D-Coat, especially for texturing and unwrapping models. I thought it might be a good idea to start a thread discussing techniques, workflows, and pipeline issues regarding the use of 3D-Coat with 3dsMax. ![]()
